One of the many restaurants along the quay of Marseille’s old port and I never expected the joy of the meal they served. It was one of the best fish dishes I’ve ever eaten. The whole fish came perfectly cooked — crisp, golden skin and moist, flavorful flesh that slipped clean from the bone. It was topped with a bright Provençal mix of chopped sundried tomatoes, red onion, garlic, herbs, and a touch of capers in olive oil — like a tomato-forward relish that added depth without drowning the fish. Every bite tasted fresh, balanced, and alive. Service was relaxed and attentive, and the view of the Old Port couldn’t be better. If you think restaurants in heavily touristed spots can’t deliver serious cooking, La Piscine will change your mind.
