Wanted to try a pub lunch in Manchester for once and ultimately ended up deciding on this place and I wasn’t disappointed. Everything is dead fresh and you can really taste that, the pie’s pastry was the best thing about it, the meat was delicious but average and the gravy didn’t have much flavour for me even though it repeated on me quite a lot. The burger was like a fist, I couldn’t believe how big it was. The cheese however didn’t have much flavour and the bacon whilst I understand the style of it, it’s way too thick and crispy for my liking. The beef was the best part about it actually which is the main part. The sides of the mash and chips, the mash whilst not outstanding, I loved the way it’s presented like London old school pie mash. But wow the chips, I’d go here just to eat the chips alone. The crispyness, the flavour, just everything about them was so good. My table didn’t have a menu and with there being no waiters, it’s a bit strange in 2025 to go up to the bar and ask for your food etc. Can’t beat a £5 double gin and lemonade either, wow what a price.
