About

Standing proudly in Madrid's Parque de Santander, the Jose Rizal Monument offers a striking homage to the revered Filipino national hero. This meticulously maintained replica of the original monument in Manila celebrates Rizal's enduring legacy. The site, lovingly tended by the Knights of Rizal and the teams from the Philippines embassy, opens up an educational and cultural experience accessible throughout the day. Children and adults alike can explore this peaceful location, where Rizal's poignant farewell poem, "Mi Ultimo Adios," is beautifully inscribed in both Spanish and Tagalog. Significantly, the monument becomes a focal point for commemoration ceremonies that honor Rizal's life and contributions, especially on his birth and death anniversaries. Established on the centenary of his passing, this monument underlines the historic ties between Spain and the Philippines.

A must visit for every Filipino. Highly recommend to visit other places where Dr. Jose Rizal has been like Ateneo De Madrid and the publication building/office of La Solidaridad.
