About

The statue "Bear and Strawberry Tree" is located at Puerta del Sol, the main square of Madrid, through which the main tourist routes pass. The unusual monument precisely replicates the heraldry of the capital, but what it actually means and symbolizes is unknown.

Not so long ago, in place of the enormous bronze bear with an unnaturally muscular back, there stood an elegant female sculpture with a fountain called Mariblanca. However, during reconstruction, there were different plans for it, and soon the monument was removed. In its place, a brown bear appeared, leaning against the tall trunk of what is either a sequoia or another tree. The new statue quickly became familiar, and today it is the most visited attraction in Madrid, where tourists and city guests always take photos.
