A lovely and lively establishment that serves the best pasta I’ve had in London. The texture of the pasta and the way they absorb the sauce is unparalleled. The sauce itself is on the salty side though, so perhaps ask for other things to balance it out. What elevated my dinning experience here, though, was the life-affirming scallops dressed in marjoram butter. I never had scallops that good in my life. The way it is cooked, the many layers of flavour. The waiter at this point also gave us some scraping bread on the house because that sauce is too heavenly to be wasted and I guess he saw it in our ravenous eyes. Will come back to try more food here.)

Located only a short walk from Highbury and Islington station, this Italian restaurant offers excellent food and it is rated as one of the best Italian places in London! There is a ground floor level with lots of seating as well as the same downstairs in the basement, with the addition of the toilets. We were sitting on the ground floor and the only complaint I can manage is that it was really hot and there was no air conditioning and no opening windows. But, if you wish you can go outside for a short while. All the staff are extremely friendly, and although we had to wait a little longer than expected for our table to be ready, we were able to sit in the bar next door while they finished preparing it - you can do the same and get a drink if you want, you’ll be called when your table is ready. It was a great way to celebrate a birthday - they were really nice about it and were happy to add a candle to the desert (although we mentioned this over the phone beforehand).

We went there on Thursday and were delighted. It’s an amazing place all over. Food was excellent, and I am well trained in Italian restaurants: dishes were apparently simple but cooked to perfection - ie the superb pappardelle with beef shin ragú, or the monkfish carpaccio. The ambience is very relaxed but not obtrusive - that’s Islington for me. And the staff were, well, absolutely wonderful, they made us feel like we were regulars - and I wish we were! We had great laughs with them on the meaning of Trullo, as in Spanish is completely different from Italian: it’s slang for “jail” so jokes galore! A fantastic night which I intend to repeat as soon as I get back to London! Cheers guys!
