This is an outrageously good sandwich. Appreciate the heads up on the short wait time and the drink in the meantime. Really great stuff.

We heard great things and travelled from south London. My friend and I ordered 3 of the 4 sandwiches to share. 2 were fantastic (ham & goat) but the cesar was not to our taste. Far too much tarragon so the flavour of aniseed overpowered our tastebuds. It was a sad note to end on… so we tried the delicious homemade cookies and they didn’t disappoint. Great selection of beers, lovely friendly staff. The homemade crisps in the sandwiches is an excellent touch for the crunch. Overall it was worth the trip.

Max’s Sandwich Shop — Where Sandwiches Get Swagger Forget everything you thought you knew about sandwiches. At Max’s, they’re not just lunch—they’re a full-blown experience. Tucked away on Crouch Hill, this cult-favourite spot turns humble ingredients into wild, flavour-packed creations that feel more like a party in your mouth than a midday snack. Atmosphere The vibe is irreverent, cheeky, and unmistakably London. Think neon signs, mismatched furniture, and a menu that reads like a stand-up set. It’s casual, loud, and proudly unpolished—exactly the kind of place where you can eat with your hands and laugh with your whole chest. Food & Drink Max’s sandwiches are legendary, and not just for their size. They’re bold, inventive, and often borderline absurd—in the best way: Chicken Caesar Sarnie: Anchovy mayo, crispy chicken, and romaine that crunches like a mic drop Goat Lasagne Sandwich: Nduja mayo, deep-fried macaroni, and silky béchamel—yes, really Macaroni Balls & Spuds: Sides that could headline their own show Wings: Possibly the best in London, according to more than one wide-eyed regular Drinks lean toward craft beers and cheeky cocktails, with a rum list that’s surprisingly refined for a place that serves goat lasagne in a bun.
