My review is for the Oyster Bar only - and it's a good one. My husband is oyster obsessed, and he made a beeline for Furness' option while exploring Borough Market. They didn't have the lowest prices, but they had the longest line (and the most locals), so we figured it would be the best one to choose. We joined the queue and waited. The fishmongers were terrific, cracking jokes with a London attitude that could perhaps be off-putting to some thin-skinned visitors. We loved it, it reminded us of characters straight out of a Guy Ritchie movie, LOL. The oyster shuckers were total badasses -- they were shucking hundreds of oysters WITH THEIR BARE HANDS -- no gloves in sight. In other words, they were that kind of TOUGH. They were friendly too, happy to answer questions and steer us towards their recommendations based on the flavor profiles (sweet, meaty, salty, rich, etc.). I liked that the oysters were clearly labeled with prices and provenance, which was so helpful. They also had some exotics like fresh sea urchins that seemed incredibly popular with the local patrons. My hubby selected a nice, large tray of assorted oysters, and they even gave him a discount for paying cash. There wasn't anywhere to sit to eat, so I had to hold the tray while he slurped them down. Everything was fresh and tasty, and he had zero complaints in the seafood quality. If you're looking for an oyster bar, this is the place.
