Pepper Street Tavern is such a gem! Grace and Lenny are absolute legends — so warm and welcoming that I instantly felt at home. I came in for a solo drink and ended up staying way longer just because of their amazing hospitality and great vibes.

Favourite pub! Good selection of VERY tasty beers, pizzas are pretty good (the "Spicy Joe" could be a bit more spicy). Only problem is the temperature - too cold for me - especially as I want to enjoy a nice cold beer. I'm a nerd, so the next time I visited I checked with a thermometer. Steady at 16.8C after I'd been there about 90 minutes. That's too chilly for me to enjoy a beer, unless I keep my hat and gloves on :-( The staff seem to be immune and are in t-shirts, but they are working and not drinking cold pints (I hope!). So I would highly recommend this place in Spring/Summer. The weather is now quite a bit colder than when I was last there, but I'm looking forward to going back when things warm up a bit :-) Lots of TVs to watch sport and the wifi is pretty good downstairs (not so good upstairs). Pool table upstairs too. 2025-08-12 update I've been here fairly regularly over the summer. Splendid. Relaxed atmosphere. Tasty beers and they've kept it under £7 a pint. Just had a pizza, pretty decent, about right at £14.75. A nice touch that they don't apply service charge on pizzas (at least not for me recently). That's a standout feature these days. The number of times I've gone to a pub, ordered a pint and some food, at the bar, only to receive a 12.5% addition on the food AND the beer. That's always annoying. Anyway worth the bump from 4 to 5 stars in the summer, best place around here by quite a stretch. Hopefully the heating is fixed for when things get chilly again. Tasty beer, decent food at reasonable price, sport on tv if you want, lots of locals just enjoying a couple of jars.
