My friend suggested this place, and I had never heard about it, which is strange, as I do know quite a bit of the London restaurant scene. What a discovery! The place is beautiful, steeped in tradition, in a spot that is a bit hidden from the crowds of London Bridge and Borough Market. The menu is solid, it caters for everyone, the service is very good, there is a nice atmosphere. It has the friendliness of an old time cockney boozer, the charm of very good service delivered in an efficient way, and all the waiters and waitresses know their stuff and are very kind. They genuinely care if you are enjoying your food or not, are prompt, and they do not rush you. I had the mackerel salad and the ham hock terrine, my friend had the chicken schnitzel. We also ordered the chips, and we had some great wine by the glass as well. She had an incredibly nice white Rioja, and I had a Chardonnay from Burgundy, delicious but not as good as the white Rioja. This is the type of place where the people on the table next to yours will happily chat and be genuinely friendly. A gem of a place ! Go!
