Initially went in winter 2024/25 I loved Bottle + Rye, especially for the food that are excellent accompaniments to the wine! Good selections of wine and cocktails. The food felt very unique and I loved loved loved this mushroom dish with tofu cream foam, delicious. Also the gizzards hearts were beautifully cooked. The place has robata hence quite smoky and the clothes did get quite Smoky but I’d say the food was worth that smell. I’d come back! Update July 2025 I went back to B+R and didn’t realise the place was run via kitchen residency and it had a different people this time from the last time. We didn’t like the food as much as the last time as everything felt lacking flavours.

This hidden gem in (kind of) Brixton Market is one of my absolute favourites. It’s a cosy, welcoming wine bar with genuinely friendly service and a brilliant rotating kitchen residency, so there’s always something new and interesting on the menu. That ever-changing food offer means I find myself returning regularly—never the same, never boring. In the summer, they open a little pop-up window and have a few outdoor tables, which is lovely (though Coldharbour Lane can be a bit… lively for your glass of Semillon). Still, the vibe is warm, relaxed, and totally charming. I love it here. Please go and support it.
