It was nice to see such a unique piece of history in the area, but the café (which we only knew was a cafe after we left the area) wasn't very inviting. It's just a black container with a window or two and an A board. It was a VERY hot day so we didn't stick around too long but next time we'll check out the cafe.

The windmill itself is closed due to the pandemic, but it is a lovely small park with a children's playground and sports area. Updated May 2023: Everything now open, of course, and there are all sorts of activities in the community centre, many free or only charging a nominal fee. May 2025: The Friends of Windmill Gardens organiser Open Weekends and other special events several times a year.
