I really want to give this place 5 star reviews because it looks beautiful and the cakes are (expensively) amazing. Alas I am unable to do so and hope that management take on board my constructive criticism. Actually, is there any management? The service is often chaotic and staff turnover appears high. There is confusion over whether it is table service or counter service. Both are painfully slow. Counter service doesn't work during busy periods because there is often a queue for take away ice cream.Even when it's super busy staff aren't employed efficiently. For example, one might be dealing with a long queue while another half heartedly clears tables and another sits at a table with a laptop. No wonder a particular 'queue' lady looks miserable and never cracks a smile. On a positive note the younger waiting staff are pleasant and friendly amidst tha chaos. Dogs are an issue. Believe it or not, some people can live without them and don't appreciate large animals, barking ones and canine hairs on their menu/table/floor/seat when they're trying to enjoy a nice, relaxed coffee. Plenty of space outside for a dog hitch. In spite of all this I am still a frequent customer and cross my fingers every time I go in hoping for speedy, friendly table service and no big, hairy dogs.
