Positives - The food was delicious, with lots of flavour and good portion sizes. The staff were friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is great and the decor is eye catching. Negatives- The cocktails aren't good at all. Using cheap ingredients, and not served the way you'd expect. I had 3, and none were quite right. The Honey Apple Sidecar was served with cubed ice, instead of crushed (or ideally shaken over ice as you'd expect with a sidecar) and there wasn't enough apple liqueur in it. The Marilyn Monroe was served with skooshy cream instead of the raspberry foam advertised. This was the best one out of the 3. The White Russian on the menu comes with bourbon and a coffee liqueur ive never heard of. The classic recipe includes Kahlua (much better!). Derby Lane's offering also contained too much cream, so it didn't taste right. The biggest negative of all is cleanliness. Everything from the menus to the table, to the bannisters down to the toilets, felt sticky and grubby. One of my glasses had some dirt on it, and my fork was dirty too. The big mirror on the wall is dusty and covered in finger prints. The whole place could benefit from a really good, deep clean.
