About

Exeter Library offers a unique blend of lively atmosphere and community spirit. With a Google rating of 4.5, this bustling library may surprise visitors with its vibrant noise level, as chatter often fills the air, even among the librarians themselves. However, the friendly female staff at the onsite café create a warm and welcoming environment. Families with young children will find the library particularly appealing, thanks to its extensive children's section that includes a play area and engaging activities. Helpful staff members ensure visitors can easily navigate the wide array of resources available, making it a valuable asset to the community. Despite the lively conversation, many find it a pleasant spot to relax and pursue personal projects, with the café offering a perfect retreat within the library.

Welcome break from the busy city streets. We used the library as a quiet spot to write out our postcards home and was able to pick up some informative leaflets to take back to our holiday cottage to use and for future guests. Also noticed they had phone chargers available to use for the public. Staff seemed inclusive and it was nice to see the homeless also welcome 🙏 Recommend.

Spent the day here while visiting Exeter and it's such a nice space. Libraries are so important - I love seeing people utilise them and show them the appreciation they deserve :)

Always impressed by how engaged, helpful and friendly the staff are. (Mr brain is a tad 'laggy' – particularly my short-term memory – so having staff who'll patiently help me when using the computer, printer and FabLab facilities is a real boon.) Also impressed by the number of events supported by the library and its staff. A great local resource.
