Wonderful traditional pub! No fake chalk boards, no bright lighting, no fruit machines, no TVs. Just good honest locals enjoying each other’s company. This is what a pub should be.

Reopened 30th July 2025. Absolutely perfect Sam Smith’s pub! Two rooms, both of them unspoilt and looking just how a traditional pub should look. Draught cask bitter for 3.40, and the keg beers under 3 a pint are very well priced. No phones - that’s the Sam’s way - but this is wonderful as it means people chat happily to strangers. Truly fantastic traditional English pub. With two open fires in winter it will be extremely cosy.
