Fun fact: When Tequila Mockingbird opened in March 2017 in SoMa (at 86 Second Street, in the former DaDa Bar), one of the most whimsical design features was a literal "door to nowhere" placed in the middle of the bar—complete with a welcome mat. It’s part of the tongue-in-cheek aesthetic its owner, chef-turned-bar-founder Dennis Leary (not the actor) aimed to create . The decor also includes reclaimed items like an illuminated “Private” neon sign from a defunct Los Angeles porn store, assembled to give the space a playful, subversive vibe .
