Stopped by Irene in Brixton Village recently—was drawn in by the cute vibe and tempting pastry display. The staff were really kind and welcoming, and the pastries looked (and tasted) pretty good! Unfortunately, I decided to try one of their paninis, and it was a bit of a letdown. It came out completely soggy and honestly pretty inedible. Not sure if it had been sitting pre-made for too long or just wasn’t heated properly, but the texture and taste didn’t hold up at all. It’s a shame because the rest of the place has promise. I’d definitely go back for a pastry and coffee, but I’d skip the sandwiches unless they rethink the way they’re preparing or storing them. Worth popping in if you're in the area—but maybe stick to the baked goods.
