We arrived around 6:45pm on Thursday 21st August and queued for a short while before being approached by a member of staff. When asked if we had a booking, I said no. The staff member then told us that the restaurant was fully booked and no tables were available. However, I could clearly see at least five empty tables in the restaurant area, and the bar area was empty. The family behind us, who had booked, were seated immediately. My niece was upset, and I checked online while still outside the restaurant. I saw that a table was available to book for 7:00pm, so I made the booking instantly. I returned inside and explained this to the same member of staff, who initially questioned it and said nothing was showing on the system. After a few minutes, my booking came through, and we were then seated. During our time there (around an hour), I observed that there continued to be tables available. This left me feeling very uncomfortable and confused as to why we had been turned away in the first place. Had it not been for my niece’s insistence on eating at Harvester, I would have left and gone elsewhere. While my niece did enjoy her food, and we were pleased that she was happy, the overall experience was very poor. I believe before customers are turned away, staff should check the booking system properly to avoid situations like this. Another customer in the queue even suggested that our treatment may have been racially motivated – I truly hope that was not the case, but I cannot ignore how uncomfortable this made me feel. I am disappointed by this experience and, sadly, I do not feel encouraged to return to Harvester again. I hope you will take this feedback on board to prevent similar experiences for other families.

As a last minute decision, I went to the Harvester in Beulah Spa last Thursday as I hadn’t been here in years. That was honestly the best choice I made that day! I ordered some chicken strips as a starter and a tasty short rib with sweet potato fries and mac & cheese on the side for my main. The short rib was smaller than expected but it was packed full of flavour, it was cooked to perfection and very tender😍 it’ll literally fell off the bone as I lightly scraped it with my fork. 10/10 I love the sauce next to the short rib, it complimented the meat very well, I even dipped my sweet potato fries in there🥴10/10 The mac & cheese was creamy & fresh! Personally, due to the mixture of cheese, I didn’t think it was bland, it was smooth and well balanced. 8/10 I’ll definitely come back again for the short rib, I should have ordered an extra one as I was really impressed by it. Thank you for the great customer service to the waiter and waitress that served me! 10/10
