Despite it being pricey, El Rey serves the best tacos in Helsinki, hands down! We got Bisteck con Queso and Tacos Al Pastor, the meat in both were super tender and the sauces were so flavourful! The guacamole was also such a nice start to the meal as well! On the other hand, the cocktails weren’t too special, you wouldn’t miss anything. One thing that would be nice to have is the option to add 1-2 more tacos or mix a few options together. You kinda have to commit to 4 tacos, especially when your companion and you don’t have the same diet and cannot share.

Coming from Mexico, and finding this authentic jewel, has made our day! Authentic Mexican tacos and drinks! You definitely cannot go wrong with al pastor tacos, quesabirria, horchata, and jamaica (hibiscus) water. Congrats to the owner for making this as authentic as Mexico.

We visited Taqueria El Rey last night without a reservation and were kindly offered seats at the bar until a table became available. We ended up staying at the bar as we were having so much fun! We went for the tasting menu with the drinks pairing and honestly… wow. Every dish was incredibly fresh and full of flavour, and the cocktails were some of the best I’ve ever had. What really made the night though was the service — absolutely top class. Every member of staff was warm, friendly and genuinely fun, taking the time to explain each dish and drink, while topping up our water and checking in. This isn’t just a restaurant with great food – it’s a full experience and one that should not be missed. Highly recommended! Thank you Luis and the rest of the crew at Taqueria El Rey, we can’t wait to come back! 🌮🍹
