Provand's Lordship stands as a testament to Glasgow's rich history, being one of the city's oldest medieval buildings now transformed into a museum. Visitors can wander through a series of beautifully preserved rooms that showcase intricately carved wooden furniture, generously donated by William Burrell, alongside Tom McGoran's evocative paintings capturing mid-20th-century Glasgow life. Stone walls and wooden beams speak to the high-standard restoration of this historical gem.

Children and adults alike will find the visit engaging, with knowledgeable staff and laminated information sheets in multiple languages that enhance the experience. Ian, the tour guide, comes highly recommended for his wealth of insights. Outside, the physick herbal garden, complete with cloisters and mysterious gargoyles, provides a delightful escape. Although the presence of a creepy figure upstairs might give you chills, the overall experience promises a fascinating step back in time amid the bustle of modern Glasgow.

The building is named after one of its owners, Sir George Skene (1619-1708), a wealthy merchant and Provost of Aberdeen from 1676 to 1685. The house was used by Hanoverian troops as a billet during the Jacobite rebellion and the Duke of Cumberland stayed here on his way to Culloden....the museum has a large collection of pioneering people of scotland ...also including a few pics of the area around the house in Aberdeen

Tof klein museum met mooie antieke inrichting. Helaas is de tuin een beetje verwaarloosd.
