My family and I had the distinct pleasure of dining at 1925 by Dean Banks last night. It was our first time visiting, however I expect this restaurant to become a tradition for us during our yearly trip to Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival. We adore attending Fringe, and Edinburgh has become a favorite city for us, however one thing to state about the Fringe Festival is that it is a frenetic, if invigorating, experience. By choosing to try 1925, we found an elegant, peaceful respite from the crowds. The room is beyond beautiful, with amazing views of Edinburgh Castle, (to our delight, we could watch the fireworks from Tattoo at our table in front of the huge picture window). Of course, we were there for food as the main event. We were ALL beyond satisfied by our meals, and we were humbled by the excellent and caring service. The sommelier was so kind; he must have overheard that we wanted a dry bottle, and he very helpfully corrected my first choice, which despite being a Sauvignon blanc was actually a sweet and fruity varietal. (I would NOT have enjoyed that first bottle I chose!). The sommelier helped me select the perfect wine for my taste. Our table enjoyed the oysters, as well as a selection of appetizers, and we all loved our entrees. Standouts were the green pea soup, the cod, and the ravioli, although every dish we tried was stellar. This is a special restaurant in an absolutely drop dead gorgeous historic building and it provided my family with an evening of perfect food, wonderful attentive service, and a delicious memory. We look forward to returning in future.

Party of 3 for the lunch menu on Friday, booked the table, was quite busy so glad we did. Very refined surroundings and service to match. We were efficiently shown to our table, given menus and ordered sparkling water. This was brought immediately and glasses filled. Wine and beer was then ordered. We didn't have long to wait for the drinks and our food orders taken. Three different starters, one from the side options brought as a starter, oysters. Soup and mussels were the others. Fish of the day was mackerel along with ravioli. We ordered sides of potatoes and broccoli. Really enjoyed the mackerel. Don't normally eat it roasted. Dessert was Panna cotta and fife strawberries. All done at a nice pace in a relaxing atmosphere. Staff were accommodating to our requirements. Much to like. Dean Banks successful again. Worth the visit
