Museum of Musical Instruments in Brüssel
Über
The Museum of Musical Instruments has an unusual appearance that makes it stand out from other buildings in Brussels. The tall, multistoried edifice is designed in the Old English style and adorned with neat terraces and sharp spires that soar upwards.
The museum's collection can rightfully be considered one of the largest in the world. It houses more than 9000 musical instruments gathered from every corner of the globe, spanning various times and epochs. The first floor of the museum is dedicated to traditional instruments, the second to orchestral ones, the third to keyboard and string instruments, while mechanical examples are found on the lower floor. Each visitor has the opportunity to listen to any of the 200 unique recordings of the instruments' sounds during tours.

Good but expensive

I didn’t expect much, but 2.5 hours was not enough for me. I should’ve started earlier. It’s a very nice museum for somebody who is really into playing musical instruments. I found it interesting to learn the history of many modern instruments, how some were invented and constructed. The only thing missing there is a story of modern times. But hopefully they’ll add it soon.

Eigen achtergrondkennis is zeker aangewezen.
