The nightlife of Bruges is devoid of clubs and electronic music, which sometimes only create the semblance of that very life. Modern tunes and a ceaseless flow of dark, almost heavenly beer pour into the deep glasses of visitors at the bar "t' Poatersgat," located just a few minutes' walk from the city theater.

The bar is hidden in one of the basements of an old building, cloaked beneath semi-circular stone vaults yet designed in a contemporary style. The establishment is primarily frequented by the youth, who enjoy the informal atmosphere. The bar's menu includes several dozen types of beer, light snacks, and even a strong ale with a barely noticeable bitterness.

Really friendly owner who recently opened a new lounge bar called Ramuzi which focusses more on cocktails and clubby music, which is also located in an underground venue. 't Poatersgat offers an excellent range of Belgian craft beers, all served in their proper glasses. We visited early and had a nice sit. Not too busy so we got fast service. We prefered 't Poatersgat over similar beer café Le Trappiste which we thought was way too crowded to enjoy. Good finger food snacks at 't Paotersgat too!
