My husband and I were passing through Chester and decided to have a light lunch and afew drinks in the Garden Room. We just loved the walled garden, full of atmosphere. I had a gluten free club sandwich - did the job....needed some gherkins and onions, and relish to elevate the taste....considering we were in a 4 star hotel I thought it would be more crafted. However the the drinks from the bar were fantastic and the young waiter Max who served us was so professional.....someone give him a payrise!!

We enjoyed eating here as the meal came with our room package. I had the French onion soup, haddock fishcakes and sticky toffee pudding, and the Mrs had the chicken liver pate, chicken pasta and a French lemon tart. We were both incredibly impressed with every course, the soup being my highlight. The service was excellent, the staff were very friendly and attentive, and the food arrived quickly.

We ordered room service from this restaurant. The most awful coronation chicken arrived. I asked for brown, they gave me white bread. Not a bit of raisin nor greens. It’s my favourite sandwich and I couldn’t even have the other half. It’s tasteless and it stuck to your gums. We also had the meat pizza. Not bad but not much meat. The curry was also tasteless and so was the avocado bruschetta. The best thing there was the seasonal vegetables. Loved it! Breakfast here was also good.
