Good quality food, wonderful & cosy atmosphere, doggy allowed anywhere inside, beautiful outdoors space with covered seating and very attentive staff with good knowledge of what they serve. Definitely a hidden gem in Stoak (five minutes from Cheshire Oaks), which is a very pretty & quiet village at the outskirts of Chester. Very close to the church and canal.

Found the restaurant on Google Maps and decided to come in with a same-day reservation. One of the best food decisions we’ve made in a long time! On entering the pub, we were greeted straight away by the staff. The bar is well stocked with a big range of cask, which suited my partner well. Drinks knowledge of the staff was good and even give tastes of each. We were wowed by the plating, combination of flavours and the presentation of the food. The four of us ordered different dishes all fresh and well seasoned. My friend has a glutton allergy which was well catered for. Great range of choice for us all. The dessert also made a strong impression with its plating and the refreshing-ness of the fruit and sorbet combination. Lots of glutton-free options here too. Highly recommend! Would definitely be back when in the area!

Great service & food. We called on the off chance and should have booked as they were really busy. Mike explained there was a wait, but expect that as it is cooked from fresh. We all had different pies: lamb, black and blue and steak and ale. All full with meat and very good value. Lots of cask hand pulls and range of lagers and ciders. Beer garden was good too, stayed there for most of afternoon.
