About

Sandviksbatteriet in Bergen offers a captivating blend of history and natural beauty. As you embark on the short hike, the well-maintained paved and gravel trails guide you to a pre-WWI fortress, revealing breathtaking vistas of the city and the surrounding landscapes. Often praised for its superior views compared to Fløyen, the journey rewards visitors with panoramas of the Askøy bridge, nearby islands, and stunning sunsets to the northwest. Ideal for families, the easy climb features stone steps known locally as Permisjonsstien, making it accessible even for younger explorers. While the wind adds a touch of drama to the experience, the dedicated grill area with benches provides a perfect spot for rest. The site connects seamlessly to various hiking paths in the vicinity, promising further exploration for those interested. Located just a few kilometers from Eidsvåg, Sandviksbatteriet remains a cherished escape, offering history, scenery, and recreation all in one visit.
