Lovely lunch spoiled by a member of staff clearing our plates when we weren't finished reaching over us, then the hotel added a £5.50 discretion charge, I asked for it to be removed. They did this before on a cup of tea without pointing it out was the most expensive cup of tea in belfast. Spoke to a manger who apologized. I was looking at the mocktail menu which was resting on the table and had my finger on it reading the ingredients when the member of staff removed it without either asking if I wanted to order or if I was finished with the menu. I felt the waitress didn't like us or something. We are regulars at the Europa and fell put off by this waitress attitude towards us.

The service was mainly run by very young waitresses who didn’t appear to be supervised, or to have their own tables allocated. This led to us being approached many times by different members of staff asking if we needed anything. The chowder was edible, but barely more than chunks of salmon, potatoes and cream. A bit more imagination would have made a much better dish.
