When to go?

Prague is among the cities that can be pleasant to visit at any time of the year. Its mild continental climate makes it possible to enjoy sightseeing attractions both in winter and summer. However, the best time to visit is considered to be from May to September, although those who enjoy the winter season will also find pleasure in staying in the capital of a hundred spires. When visiting Prague, it's important to remember that many shops, cafes, and restaurants close for the Christmas holidays starting December 25, which can lead to some inconveniences.

What to buy?

Probably the first thing that comes to mind when mentioning Prague is Bohemian glass, which for many years was not only the calling card of the Czech capital but also of the entire country. Czech crystal is a global brand that symbolizes good taste and elegance. Its production started over seven hundred years ago, and over the centuries, the technology has achieved perfection.

Very interesting and more romantic souvenirs are made of garnet, considered to be the stone of lovers. At all times, a gift of a garnet ring symbolized a declaration of love and friendship, expressing deep gratitude from the giver. A necklace made of these stones also makes an excellent meaningful gift.

Hand-painted Easter eggs are exceedingly popular among city guests, especially on the eve of the holiday. Some of them are real works of art, capable of decorating not just your room but many famous museums as well.

One of the best souvenirs of the Czech capital is considered to be marionette dolls, which started being actively produced in the early nineteenth century. Soldier Schweik, Hurvínek, Jan Žižka, and the beauty Libuše – all these characters enjoy well-deserved popularity and love among locals and travelers alike.

What to try?

For many visitors to the city, the most famous beverage is the renowned Czech beer, with a vast variety of types available in local shops and bars. Only in the Czech Republic is the world-famous "Becherovka" produced, a delicious, herb-infused liqueur.

The Karlovy Vary wafers, made according to an ancient recipe with mineral water from Karlovy Vary, are also incredibly popular. They have been baked in the Czech Republic since the middle of the sixteenth century, and nowadays, there are more than ten varieties with different fillings – chocolate, apple, nut, etc. Those who prefer heartier food can try the traditional fried cheese, sausages, duck with dumplings, and "Vepřové koleno" – a baked or smoked pork knuckle with unparalleled taste qualities.
